Sunnyhill Primary School - Recruitment Principles:

Sunnyhill’s staff are central to the success of the school and its children. Attracting and retaining staff of the highest calibre are therefore essential to supporting our mission and values.

This statement provides an overview of our commitment to a recruitment approach which ensures fair selection and good outcomes for the school and applicants, whilst also bearing in mind our longer-term workforce and financial plan.

Core Principles

  • Fair, open and on merit. Sunnyhill recruits on the basis of fair and open selection with appointments made on merit to secure high calibre talent.
  • Our School Values. These are central to the recruitment process, both in our commitment to ensuring a positive application process for applicants and in the way we assess shared values with prospective staff.
  • Developing a talent pipeline. Sunnyhill will seek to further build the diversity of its workforce by encouraging applications from a range of backgrounds and experience routes. This will ensure we develop a diverse talent pipeline to meet our longerterm workforce and financial plans.

Recruitment practice will be compliant with all relevant legislation and statutory guidance published by the Department for Education (DfE).

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Respect for one another is one of our School Values and Sunnyhill is proud of the cultural diversity that makes up our community. We see this as a strength to be celebrated and supported through inclusive recruitment policies.

Sunnyhill is an equal opportunities employer and this commitment is underpinned by our Equality Statement. Sunnyhill commits to recruiting staff on the basis of merit, ability and suitability, ensuring that all applicants are considered equally and consistently. No job applicant will be treated unfairly on any ground as outlined in the Equality Act (2010).
